Dr. Amal Kalu
Pediatric Neurologist & Clinical Neurophysiologist
Dr. Amal Kalu is a distinguished Pediatric Neurologist and Clinical Neurophysiologist with a career spanning over a decade in advanced neurological care and clinical practice.
Dr. Amal completed her MBBS degree from Taibah University, Saudi Arabia, in 2009. She further honed her expertise through the Saudi Pediatric Neurology Residency Program at King Fahad Medical City (KFMC) in Riyadh, where she gained comprehensive training in general pediatrics, pediatric neurology, and neurophysiology. She was awarded the Saudi Pediatric Neurology Board in 2016, signifying her proficiency in this critical field.
Her pursuit of excellence led her to King’s College Hospital in London, where she undertook a Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship (2020–2022). During this time, she specialized in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques such as nerve conduction studies, electromyography (EMG), evoked potentials, and advanced EEG reporting. Her contributions also included mentoring junior physicians and presenting in specialized departmental meetings.
Dr. Amal’s professional experience includes roles in some of Saudi Arabia’s most renowned healthcare institutions, including the National Neuroscience Institute at KFMC. She has worked across diverse specialties such as neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, and emergency pediatric care, handling complex cases like neuro-metabolic diseases and intractable epilepsy.
Dr. Amal is an active contributor to the medical community, having presented at several prestigious conferences, including the British Myology Society Meeting, the Middle East International Pediatric Neurology Congress, and the Saudi International Pediatric Neurology Conference. She has also conducted workshops and participated in advanced training sessions such as the Canadian EEG Board Review Course and specialized neurology symposiums.
Her dedication to education and clinical excellence has positively impacted the lives of numerous pediatric patients, helping them overcome neurological challenges and achieve a better quality of life. Dr. Arif Khan
Pediatric Neurology Consultant
Dr. Arif is a British Board-certified Consultant Pediatric Neurologist. He completed his General Pediatric and Pediatric neurology training in the UK.
He has trained and worked in a number of regional and tertiary hospitals in the United Kingdom. The prominent ones included Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, University Hospitals of Leicester and the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. He was a Consultant Pediatric Neurologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust for 3 years. During his tenure, he was assigned as lead clinician for complex epilepsies, vagal nerve stimulation service, and ketogenic diet service in Leicester.
He moved to Dubai in the year 2015 and was appointed as the Head of Children’s services at the American Center for Psychiatric and Neurology in 2015. After having completed 2 contractual years at the center, he set out to develop the first pediatric neurosciences center in the region called Neuropedia.
More recently in Jan 2022, he founded and developed the first pediatric-focused Orthotics and Prosthetics clinic in the region called Xtremity in Dubai.
Dr. Arif is an avid writer, authoring more than 40 peer-reviewed and public health publications. He has recently authored a book called Pediatrics – A clinical Handbook.
He is currently an Associate Professor (adj) of Pediatric Neurology at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University, Dubai. He has been a lecturer for medical students at the University Hospital of Leicester and has been teaching national training courses like the Pediatric Epilepsy training course. He is an accredited examiner for the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health.

Dr. Muhammad Aslam Nagi

Dr. Muhammad Aslam Nagi is a highly experienced pediatrician for pediatric neurology conditions with over 30 years of expertise in clinical practice and subspecialty teaching. He served as a Specialist in Pediatric Neurology at Tawam Hospital, Al-Ain, and as an adjunct faculty member at the College of Medicine, UAE University, for nearly two decades.
Dr. Muhammad Aslam specializes in pediatric neurology, with specializing in neurological conditions like epilepsy, Autism and ADHD.
He has extensive experience in diagnosing and managing conditions such as pediatric epilepsy, movement disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases.
He is adept at utilizing advanced therapeutic techniques such as vagal nerve stimulation, and baclofen pump programming. His practice also covers the management of pediatric headaches, including migraines, as well as complex conditions like ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and spasticity management, with and without Botox.
Dr. Muhammad Aslam received his Membership and Fellowship in Pediatrics from the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan, with specialized training in Civil Hospital Karachi and Neonatology at Aga Khan University Hospital. He further advanced his skills through the Penry Pediatric Epilepsy Mini Fellowship and Bresnan Child Neurology courses at Harvard Medical School, BPNA pediatric epilepsy courses in the UAE, and masterclasses in Pediatric Neurology and Developmental Pediatrics in the UK.
An active contributor to international conferences, Dr. Muhammad Aslam has also published research on Leukodystrophies and Mitochondrial Diseases in children.
Marisa Lobo - Biddappa
Child psychologist
Marisa’s career as a Psychologist began in 1987, after qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist from the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), one of Asia’s premier institutions.
After being placed 4th, out of 84,000 students, in her Pre-University boards, she completed her undergraduate degree with a Gold Medal in Psychology. On getting the 1st Rank and two Gold Medals in Clinical Psychology in her Masters, she did a 2-year intensive MPhil in Medical and Social Psychology at NIMHANS with distinctions in Neuropsychology and for her dissertation on ‘Thought Disorders and Information processing in Schizophrenics and Manics. Her modification of the Object Sorting Test is used to measure Thought Disorders.
In over two decades in Dubai, the last seven at the Kids Neuro Clinic, she has helped thousands of children and adolescents cope with their problems, function with or without support and bring out their best selves. She has worked in a range of environments including the Child Intervention Medical Center and Dubai Autism Center. She is a member of the British Psychological Society.
Besides conducting assessments and intervention through therapy, she also ran interactive courses like ‘Happy Heart’ for younger children and ‘Heart to Heart’ for adolescents addressing issues like Family Relationships, Friendships, Coping with Change, Peer Pressure and Substance Abuse.
She has co-authored papers and conducted over 25 Talks and Workshops including a talk at the Autism Around the World Conference, at the 1st International Symposium on Autism and Related Developmental Disorders, at Riyadh, and a Workshop on Best practices in Assessment at the 2ndKids Neuroscience Conference.
She has contributed to publications and served the community doing pro bono counselling. Helping people believe in themselves, discover their strengths and boost their self-esteem is perhaps the biggest change she has brought in young people. Her service to the community earned her the Dubai Healthcare Authority Excellence Award for Distinguished Allied Health Professionals in 2020 and also a Golden Visa in 2021 under the Exceptional Talents category.

Pooja Lakhani is a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian with nearly a decade of experience specializing in Critical Care Nutrition. She has played a key role in the ICU and Liver Transplant team at Apollo Hospitals, Mumbai, contributing to over 200 successful adult and pediatric liver transplants. A Gold Medallist and Registered Dietitian with the Indian Dietetics Association, Pooja was the first dietitian in India to earn the prestigious Certified Nutrition Support Clinician credential from an American Board.
Currently pursuing her PhD at Mumbai University, Pooja has received numerous accolades for her research in Clinical Nutrition, including the Pratima Kaushik Award by IDA and Best Paper Presentation awards from Apollo and ASPEN in 2018.
Pooja is now focusing on helping patients manage lifestyle diseases like diabetes, metabolic syndrome, PCOS, fatty liver disease, and obesity. Her unique approach emphasizes simple, sustainable, and evidence-based nutrition strategies, enabling clients to achieve long-term health improvements.
